Early Life and Career
Russell Irving "Russ" Tamblyn was born on December 30, 1934, in Los Angeles, California.
He is the son of actors Sally Triplett and Eddie Tamblyn, and the older brother of Larry Tamblyn, the organist for the popular 1960s band The Standells.
At the age of ten, Tamblyn was discovered by actor Lloyd Bridges in an amateur theatrical production.
With Bridges' help, he made his film debut in 1948 with a small role in "The Boy With Green Hair." Throughout the early 1950s, he appeared in several notable films, including "Samson and Delilah," "Gun Crazy," and "Father of the Bride."
